Project Overview

This whole-home remodel and addition transformed an existing mid-century ranch residence into a light-filled modern home designed around openness, comfort, and connection to the surrounding landscape.

Radius Design reimagined the original layout by opening the kitchen, dining, and living spaces while introducing vaulted ceilings, exposed timber detailing, and expanded glazing throughout the home. The result is a cohesive modernized residence that maintains the character of the original structure while dramatically improving livability and spatial experience.

The project added 792 square feet of new conditioned living space to the original 1,808 square foot home, creating a final 2,600 square foot residence with updated indoor and outdoor living areas.

The Challenge
  • Existing home felt dark and compartmentalized
  • Low ceilings limited openness and natural light
  • Minimal connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape
  • Aging ranch-style exterior lacked architectural presence
  • Steep site and retaining wall conditions required engineering coordination
  • Tight permitting and structural review requirements with the City of Bend
