Project Overview

This project transformed an existing log home in La Pine, Oregon with a thoughtfully designed wraparound deck addition, improved exterior access, and carefully coordinated interior renovations. The primary goal was to expand the home's outdoor living areas while preserving the rustic character that makes mountain homes in Central Oregon so distinctive.

Radius Design developed a comprehensive design solution that integrates a new elevated deck, custom stair system, and modern steel railings with the existing log structure and stone foundation. Every design decision was carefully coordinated to respect the home's original architecture while improving circulation, functionality, and the connection between indoor and outdoor living spaces.

In addition to the exterior improvements, the project included updated kitchen and bathroom layouts, refined interior finishes, and detailed construction documentation to support permitting and construction. From concept renderings to technical drawings, the result is a cohesive renovation that enhances both the home's livability and long-term value while maintaining the timeless appeal of its mountain setting.

Design Response

Radius Design approached this renovation by enhancing the home's connection to its natural surroundings while preserving the character of the existing log structure. The centerpiece of the design is a custom elevated wraparound deck that extends the main living space outdoors, creating generous areas for entertaining, relaxing, and enjoying the surrounding forest views.

A new stair system was carefully integrated into the home's unique geometry to provide safe, efficient access between the upper deck and lower level. Structural supports, framing, and connections were coordinated to work seamlessly with the existing foundation while maintaining clean architectural lines and long-term durability.
